Chilkat Dancers Immediately next door to the Chilkat Eagle B&B, the world famous Chilkat Dancers perform most weekdays at the Chilkat Center for the Arts. The Dancers have performed all over the world as part of cultural exchange programs and they have been featured at several World Fairs as part of the Alaska Exhibition. They are an extension of the Alaska Indian Arts program which is housed across the street in the former Fort Hospital Building where totem poles, house screens, masks, prints and jewelry are produced by the resident artisans.

The nearby American Bald Eagle Foundation building features extensive displays of Alaskan fish and wildlife species including numerous mounted Bald Eagle specimens displayed in naturalistic daily activities. The Foundation facility provides a unique opportunity for close observation of most Alaskan wildlife species. The facility is also the center of activities during the November Alaska Bald Eagle Festival which celebrates the wintertime concentration of several thousand Bald Eagles which take advantage of the excellent survival conditions in the Alaska Chilkat Bald Eagle Preserve.

Nesting Eagles Rainbow Glacier Coast Range
Active Bald Eagle Nest overlooks the Haines Airport at 4 Mile Haines Highway. Haines hosts thousands of Bald Eagles in winter which gather in the core area of the Bald Eagle Preserve. Majestic hanging Rainbow Glacier with waterfall is framed by Paradise Cove five miles south of Haines. The Chilkat Range forms the boundary peaks of Glacier Bay National Park and World Heritage Preserve. The Coast Range from 7 mile Mud Bay Road near Chilkat State Park south of Haines. This range frames the Lynn Canal on the east and forms the coastal ramparts of the Great Juneau Icecap.

Bearwatchers
Bearwatchers from South Africa, Switzerland and Germany take advantage of the most accessible bearwatching opportunity in Alaska at the Chilkoot River near Haines. Families of brown bears work the salmon runs during August and September.
